REPORT
Kailua District Park

In 1997 ASH partnered with the City & County of Honolulu to remove an existing 6ft halfpipe, that was in the middle of what is now the volleyball court, in exchange for an area designated for skateboarding at the Kailua District Park.  A flat cement slab was constructed in the northeast corner of the park to be used for skateboarding.  Over the next two decades, ASH continued to improve the park in several stages.  A metal flatbar, skate bench and skate boxes were installed in 2012 as the first phase of the skatepark improvement project.
In the summer of 2021, the final phase of the improvement project was completed.  The park now has three new cement obstacles to accompany the existing obstacles from the first phase.  In addition, ASH worked with the Kailua Neighborhood Board to make use of the lights at the park and extend the hours of use to 8pm.
